The Congressional Medal of Honor Society Board of Directors voted unanimously today to hold their 2014 national convention in Knoxville. WBIR Channel 10 will be breaking the story tonight on the 11 news. Additionally, we will be issuing a press release tomorrow announcing this historic event. I wanted you all to hear it from me first. Please start spreading the word.

Congressional Medal of Honor Society Update
Since our last update at our Steering Committee meeting, two additional Medal of Honor recipients have passed away. Van Barfoot passed away on March 2nd and William Charette passed away on April 19th. There are currently 81 living recipients of the Medal.

Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation Character Development Program
On March 5th, the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation and recipient Bruce Crandall presented the Congressional Medal of Honor Character Development Program to 9 Knoxville area school districts. The response from those in attendance was overwhelming. It appears most of the area school districts will be incorporating the Character Development Program into their curriculums for the upcoming school year.

Additionally, Crandall made visits to the East Tennessee Veterans Memorial and the Knox County STEM Academy. WBIR did two separate stories for these events. Links to the news stories are below:
